In Their Own Words
MR Models 1/35 Spigot Mortar by Bob Caruso
On December 7, 1941 the United States was attacked by the empire
of Japan, and thrust into the Second World War. The Japanese
attacked many American outposts in the Pacific Ocean, including the
Philippines. This vignette depicts a US Marine looking a Japanese
Type 98 Spigot Mortar in the Philippines. This type of mortar was
used by the Japanese for Coastal defense. The sign next to the
mortar translates to "Danger".
