Books:
AJ Press Panther Series by Phil Novak "One of the highlights of the books are the color plates at the end. There are some cool camouflage
schemes, and they give you views of a couple different sides.
Field Guide to Modern Diesel Locomotives by Bill McKean: "McDonnell's Field Guide answers virtually any question about the identity of almost any given locomotive made after 1972 and provides a great wealth of information in addition. The book is divided into three primary sections by manufacturer-- General Electric, General Motors and a surprise: Motive Power Industries Division of WABTEC."
German Camouflaged Helmets of the Second World War by Roger Green: "My favorite however, is Volume Two that depicts nearly 100 full color photographs of more than 180 helmets and covers, all shown in full- page size.
JJ Fedorowicz Publishing's Tigers in Combat series by Phil Novak: "Combined with the Schiffer books on the Tiger I and II, which offer technical information, these Tiger references are the perfect addition to your library. "
JJ Fedorowicz's Panzertaktik by Phil Novak Concentrating on small unit actions, battalion sized and smaller, Schneider goes into fantastic detail of how German armor was used.
Kagero Publishing Fw190 Vol. I and IV by Phil Novak "The section on the variants is very good, with a section on each variant, describing the difference between that and the one that came before it. After that comes a section on camouflage and painting."
Kagero Publishing's Me 262 in Combat by Phil Novak "Each chapter reads like an abbreviated version of Osprey's Aviation Elite series, giving a concise unit history."
Kagero Publishing's JG 301 "Wilde Sau" by Phil Novak "Another one of Kagero's "miniature" books, the one on JG 301 is primarily a unit history. These book remind me of the Osprey Aviation Elite. They are written in the same style, and give a good history of the unit in question."
Model Railroad Bench Work by John Sipple "Methods and materials change over times (and yet some don't) so even topics such as benchwork need a fresh look from time to time. Veteran model railroad writer and photographer Jeff Wilson tackles the topic, providing details without doctrine and an overview without bias."
Nuts & Bolts Publication: FAMO by Phil Novak: "Starting out with an excellent history of the vehicle, it explains its many uses and introduces its variants."
Nuts and Bolts Publications Vol 14 "Nashorn" by Phil Novak "Starting with the development of tank hunters and concluding with the final production details of the Nashorn, the book is sure to please the modeler."
Osprey's Aircraft of the Aces by Phil Novak: "When building an aircraft kit, I often ask myself, "I wonder what it was like to fly one of these planes?" I'll wonder if the crews that manned them were efficient, or if the machine itself was a maintenance nightmare."
Osprey's Aviation Elite Vol. 12 JG 27 "Afrika" by Phil Novak "Jagdgeschwader (JG) 27 is a well written, concise, history of one of Germany's best known fighter wings."
Modelling Armoured Vehicles by Aaron Skinner: "The book really begins to shine in the third chapter with tips for using aftermarket accessories such as track links, phot-etched metal, and resin.
Osprey Modelling Scale Figures by Tim Kidwell: "Modelling Scale Figures offers tips and techniques valuable to both beginners as well as experienced modelers who may believe their skills have reached a plateau.
Luftwaffe Schlachtgruppen by Phil Novak "Not only does this book cover the aircraft and units, but it also does a wonderful job in covering the pilots. The legendary Hans Ulrich Rudel and his 519 tank kills are covered, along with others such as Anton Hubsch, Alois Wosnitz and August Lambert."
Osprey Combat Aircraft F-15C/E Eagle Units of Operation Iraqi Freedom by Phil Novak: "The book does an excellent job of conveying how F-15s were used throughout the conflict, and the variety of missions flown."
Osprey Combat Aircraft Vol 40 PBJ Mitchell Units of the Pacific War by Phil Novak "This was an interesting book to read, as it was to the point, and put forth in a way which helps to retain the information that you have read."
Osprey's The Second World War, A World in Flames by Phil Novak "I found that "A World in Flames" is well written, giving a concise history of what happened on the larger scale in each theater during World War II."
Osprey's WWII Figure Painting Book by Phil Novak: "I think that some of the work that is featured in it is not the best that's around, a big turnoff for me considering that the purpose of these books is to make your models look like the ones in the photographs."
RC Pilot's Handbook by Jeff Junker: "The text is cleanly written, easily understood, and prolifically illustrated. It covers potential problems that might occur and offers down-to-earth solutions that should bring a troubled aircraft down-to-earth in the same number of pieces as when it left."
Regional Railroads of the Midwest by Cody Griyno: "As larger railroads sold off secondary routes in favor of more profitable main lines, it opened the door for regional carriers to provide regular, more personalized service to online customers."
Secret Projects: Flying Saucer Aircraft by Sue Brettingen: "Secret Projects: Flying Saucer Aircraft(written by Bill Rose and Tony Buttler) includes nine chapters, with titles like "German Wartime Flying Discs" and "Russian Flying Discs: Myth and Reality."
Tigers at the Front by Phil Novak: "This book is indispensable for modelers as it shows how not all Tigers were the same, and it can set straight the people who try to tell you "Tiger crews would never do that" and "That's not the right type of track".
The Easter Bunnies by John Daniel: "Gastager was a mechanic/gunner on almost every type of German reconnaissance aircraft from the Do 17P to the JU 188."
The Luftwaffe Ritterkreuztrager by John Daniel: "This is a book which caused me to think about a thread I saw on Missing Lynx some time ago. In it, a prominent armor authority remarked in response to an inquiry that he thought that most modelers made lousy historians."
The Modeler's Guide to the Tiger Tank Review by Phil Novak "I remember them announcing this book back in 2000! Its finally here, and I think it was worth the wait."
The Saucer Fleet by Martin Phillipps: "Many regular folk would turn and run at the mere mention of a book dedicated to flying saucers and their place within the modern psyche."
The V&O Story by Jeff Junker: "Why bother reviewing a book that's been in print for almost 20 years: Precisely because it HAS been in print for almost 20 years. Page through any modeling railroading magazine and there's bound to be at least one story featuring a train layout running motive power and rolling stock of a non-existent railroad of the modelers creation."
Vallejo's AFV Acrylic DVD by Tim Kidwell: "Featuring premier armor modeler Mig Jimenez, the package includes a DVD with 56 minutes of video and an 8-page color insert that details what Vallejo products were used and where during the course of the video."
