Kagero Publishing Me 262 In Combat by Phil Novak

This is one of Kagero's "miniature" books, but that doesn't mean that it is light on information. It starts out describing an engagement between B-17s of the "Bloody Hundredth" and Me262 fighters in April of 1945. It then goes into the different units that used the Me262 starting with Erprobungskommando 262, and then moving into Kommando Nowotny, EJG 2, and KG54.

Each chapter reads like an abbreviated version of Osprey's Aviation Elite series, giving a concise unit history. A section on some of the better known Me262 pilots follows the unit histories, allowing some insight to the type of people flying these remarkable machines.

The book contains some really nice artwork, consisting of two plates on the inside cover, four plates on the back cover, and a fold out section in the middle with a plate on each side. The fold out plate features a Me262 "Red 13" flown by Heinz Bar, but unfortunately recent research has shown that his aircraft was really in a grey camouflage scheme rather than the green one depicted.

A set of Techmod decals accompanies the book, allowing one to complete a 1/72 or 1/48 scale model of the machines depicted in the artwork. Seven planes are possible and a history of each one is given in the appendices.
