One of Osprey's newer series, the Aviation elite are unit histories that concentrate on accomplishments of the unit's pilots. Jagdgeschwader (JG) 27 is a well written, concise, history of one of Germany's best known fighter wings. The author John Weal, has produced excellent color plates covering the mounts of the Jagdgeschwader's best known pilots. The text itself it easy to follow and is packed with quotes from the pilots. The appendices at the back of the books list all of the commanders as well as the Knight's Cross winners and their scores. Another winner from Osprey.
