This summer, big things are happening with -big things. While the Wizard World Championship Invitational Series lights up the tournament scene, and Marvel's First Family graces the big screen, WizKids brings you Fantastic Forces, an expansion so packed with incredible power and cool collectibles that the figures themselves are larger than life!
The first thing you'll notice about Fantastic Forces is the size of the figures. Every Booster contains one oversized figure, either a giant figure like the towering Yellowjacket, or a double-based figure like Ghost Rider on his motorcycle. Giant figures have debuted in before-Ultimate Giant-Man in the Mutant Mayhem expansion continues to make waves on the tournament scene - but this is the first time that they will be commonly available.
Double-based figures are a take on other figures in the game with larger bases, like the Sentinel and the Dark Phoenix. They take up more room on the battlefield, but they can attack - and interfere with - more figures than a regular-sized figure can.
The set also introduces characters with a new speed subtype: transporters. Transporters can carry other characters, just like flying characters can, and they can execute special "flyby" attacks. The ability to transport other characters helps any team, but pairing it up with a flyby is a devastating combination!
What would a set called Fantastic Forces be without Marvel's First Family? The Ultimate Fantastic Four, fresh from the pages of one of the most popular comic books ever created, burst onto the scene in this set. They are joined by friends like Sub-Mariner and Scarlet Witch - and just in time, as Ultimate Doctor Doom is there to ensure the heroes will have a challenging fight!
Although there are a lot of new faces in Fantastic Forces, WizKids has also made sure to include alternative versions of existing characters. For example, the set reintroduces the original Green Goblin - a fan-favorite character, star of one (and-a-half?) movie, and all-around great villain. The Ultimate Gabby debuted in Clobberin' Time, but the Fantastic Forces version is a beefed-up pumpkin-bomb-tossing nightmare!
This Green Goblin jets around on his rocket sled, hurling death and mayhem. All three versions start with Running Shot, Energy Explosion, and some Toughness. Then he switches to Willpower so that he can fly around causing as much damage as possible. His Veteran version also has a nice helping of Perplex perfect for pumping his damage or attack for maximum effect.
Fantastic Forces literally broke the mold on figure size, and it will break the mold on game play, too!
If you're serious about the Invitational Series, take note: These figures will be the new standard for
tournaments everywhere!
