1/35 Crusader Mk 1 - - due March 2004

The Crusader tank, produced in a range of versions, equipped front-lin British armor divisions halfway through WWII; it saw action on the Western Front in Africa, and in Asia. Its thin armor was often inadequte in the face of enemy fire, and it was particularly vulnerable to mines and anti-tank gunfire. Firepower was often decidedly inferior compared to that of it German counterparts. Nevertheless, the Crusaders, where properly coordinated in groups. Operation Overlord - -due March 2004

WWII aficionados can relive one of the biggest battles in modern history with Italeri's new wargame role-playing game, Operation Overlord. The exciting game allows players to reenact the part of either the German or Allied sides, as they replay the famous battle of Normandy in 1944. Includes 100 German soldier figures, 100 US solder figures, 1 German Panzer IV tank, 1 American M4 Sherman tank, battlefield accessories, rule book, 1 set of tables for movements, 2 packs of cards, dice, cardboard markers, instruction and decals, 1 brush, and 1 bottle of non-toxic glue.

SINCE MAN LEARNED TO FLY, HE HAS been working to fly faster and in new and different ways. He altered the aircraft of his day to introduce the experimental aircraft of the future. Some early experiments failed, but others succeeded, propelling humanity into a new era of flight. Dual cockpits and propellers, jet and supersonic propulsion, and adjustable wings are a few of the great experimental feats that have launched humanity into new aeronautical heights. And now Italeri offers kits of two of today's most acclaimed experimental aircraft -- the Lockheed JSF X-35 and the Boeing JSF X-32.

Construction

Each 1/72 kit has about 50 pieces and is fairly easy to assemble. The Lockheed X-35 construction begins in the cockpit. Seven pieces comprise the cockpit, including a detailed control panel and throttle sticks. Moving on to the fuselage, the propulsion unit is attached, along with several fins and hatches over a second propulsion unit on the dorsal side and the cockpit windshield. A steady hand and careful gluing skill will be required here. Finally, detailed landing gears and shields are glued on. The kit is then ready for the final touch -- the decals.

Although the kit is molded in gray plastic, application of a Light Ghost Gray paint is suggested. After it dries, follow the instructions for easy application of the several included decals. The Boeing X-32's cockpit is the first section to be assembled on this kit and is placed into the fuselage. Then, the rear jet propulsion is added. The next step will affect the neat appearance of the Boeing X-32 -- assembling the weaponry. There are actually three variations in which the modeler can assemble the armament and attach to the fuselage. The first option is with the Sparrow missiles mounted above the JDAM bombs. The second is to mount the missiles and bombs side by side. The third is to leave out the bombs entirely and mount one missile above the other. For more variation, the modeler may choose to use one option on one side of the fuselage and a different option on the other side. Whichever option is chosen, the modeler must be sure to carefully glue together the two sides to each weapon.

Final touches

There is a bit of painting involved for the Boeing X-32, since the missiles should be painted Insignia White and the bombs need to be a flat blue. Insert the armament compartment from the inside of the fuselage. The detailed landing gears are then added, as well as the canons, radar, and cockpit windshield.

Like the Lockheed X-35, the kit is molded in gray plastic. For an authentic look, a coat of Light Ghost Gray paint should be applied. The rear jet should be painted with gun metal paint. After the decals are applied, the modeler has a smart replica of this exciting experimental aircraft. These kits are excellent representations of two of the military aircraft destined to be more popular than the F-16. With the Lockheed X-35's sleek design and a harrier-like propulsion units and the Boeing X-32's unique fuselage embedded armament compartment, these aircraft will advance military and aircraft capabilities to new heights. Italeri offers the modeler a first-hand look at these X-traordinary experimental aircraft.

 Battle in a Box: Waterloo Battle Game Set

ITALERI'S DETAILED COMBAT FIGURES have become a favorite of battle gamers around the country. It is with these folks in mind that Italeri designed the 1/72 scale Waterloo Battle Set. The set includes everything needed for a full-fledged battle game based on the historic Battle of Waterloo in 1815.

Pieces galore The Italeri Waterloo Battle Set includes a total of 86 soldier figures: 36 British and 50 French. Each side includes a wide variety of figure poses like aiming weapons, swinging swords, mounted on horses, etc. Each soldier, whether French or British, requires at least 10 different colors for completion. This places the skill level higher than novice, but the box has helpful diagrams and lists all of the colors needed for each side that make painting a little easier. LVT-4 Water Buffalo: The LVT-4 Water Buffalo was designed in the 1940s for use in amphibious operations. The vehicle operated like a tank on land and a motor boat in water. Italeri's long-awaited Skill Level 3 kit is one of the first with this amphibious design. The kit features over 140 detailed parts and includes a detailed interior, 50- and 3-caliber machine guns, and flexible treads.

F-117A Stealth Fighter: The F-117A Fighter was the first aircraft designed to offer a limited radar cross-section and appear virtually invisible on radars. Italeri's new kit is the only Stealth in 1/32 scale. This Skill Level 2 kit is big, measuring almost 25" in length, with a detailed cockpit, weapons bay with armament, and detailed landing gear.
