1/72 FW190A-4 3./JG.5, Orel, 1943 (Leutnant Josef Jennewein)
Features:
- 1/72 Authentic Scale
- High Quality Diecast Metal
- Historically Accurate
- Detailed Cockpits
- Pre-assembled
Born on November 21 1919, Josef "Pepi" Jennewein initially achieved fame as a world champion skier. However, he's also perhaps better
remembered as a Luftwaffe ace in WWII. He flew 271 missions and achieved 86 victories, nearly all of them on the Eastern Front. Oberfeldwebel
Jennewein disappeared after force-landing his Fw 190A-6 behind Russian lines in July 1943, and was later posthumously awarded the
Ritterkreuz.
Dragon Warbirds has reproduced one of the aircraft that contributed to his remarkably high tally of aerial victories. The aircraft is a Focke-Wulf
190A-4, of which 976 were built between June 1942 and March 1943. The Fw 190 was well-liked by its pilots, and at the time of its introduction in
1941, this Luftwaffe workhorse fighter was considered superior to the Spitfire Mk. V. It was so effective that more than 20,000 were eventually
manufactured (including 6000 fighter-bombers). Dragon Warbirds' new 1/72 scale die-cast replica portrays an aircraft of 3./JG.51 flown by then
Leutnant Jennewein. The Fw 190A-4 carries a superbly painted two-color summer camouflage scheme used at this time in June 1943 in the
region of Orel on the Eastern Front. The distinctive "5" is finely displayed on the fuselage sides. All details on this fine work of art are sharply
rendered, and the sleek lines of the Fw 190 are captured to perfection. Dragon Warbirds is proud to present this model of a world champion skier
and famous Luftwaffe ace!

1/72 ME262A-1a "WHITE 3" 9./JG 7 w/Airfield Base
Special Features:
- 1/72 Authentic Scale
- High Quality Diecast Metal
- Historically Accurate
- Detailed Cockpits
- Pre-assembled
Design work on the Me 262 actually began as early as September 1939, though its development was protracted. It wasn't until July 18 1942 that the first turbojet-powered Me 262V-3 made its maiden flight. Capable of a top speed of 870km/h, the pair of axial-flow compressor type Junkers Jumo 004B turbojets were notoriously unreliable, and their average lifespan was just 25 hours.
The latest addition to the Dragon Warbirds range is "White 3" from 9./JG 7, representing the original fighter as it appeared in April 1945. Jagdgeschwader 7 "Hindenburg" was the first and only fully operational jet fighter Geschwader of the Luftwaffe, with its pilots being some of the highest-scoring aces of the day. This fully finished and pre-painted model has a distinctive and authentically rendered three-color camouflage paint scheme. Details and proportions on the model are accurate, while colorful tactical markings add an extra element of interest. The cockpit is fully detailed for viewing. This release adds an extra dimension it is mounted on a beautifully modeled scenic base made of resin that portrays a revetment section of an airfield. This Me 262A-1a is perhaps ready to scramble or awaiting some much-needed maintenance of its fickle jet engines. Whatever the case, the scene is delightfully presented and expertly painted, providing an excellent canvas for modelers to add further details. Or unadorned, it makes a spectacular display in its own right.
1/72 F/A-18E Super Hornet VFA-31 "Tomcatters"
Special Features:
- 1/72 Authentic Scale
- High Quality Diecast Metal
- Historically Accurate
- Detailed Cockpits
- Pre-assembled
The "Tomcatters" is a U.S. Navy strike fighter squadron based at NAS Oceana. This squadron, VFA-31, flies the F/A-18E Super Hornet exclusively. Founded on 1 July 1935 as VF-1B "Shooting Stars", the squadron has an illustrious history. Most recently it participated in Operation Iraqi Freedom while aboard USS Abraham Lincoln where it flew 585 sorties. At the time, the "Tomcatters" was flying F-14D Tomcats. The unit's farewell to its Tomcats occurred in September 2006 during the "Tomcat Sunset". It was the Navy's last operational Tomcat squadron, and this will be reflected for time immemorial by their squadron name "Tomcatters"! After this emotional farewell, VFA-31 began its transition to the F/A-18E Super Hornet, and today the "Fighting 31" specializes in night fighting. This is summed up in their motto of "We get ours at night".
Dragon Warbirds is offering a fine 1/72 scale die-cast model of an F/A-18E Super Hornet from VFA-31. The model is beautifully detailed, capturing the sleek and powerful stance of this potent U.S. military aircraft. The model bears all the appropriate markings of this unit including the "AJ" tail code, and a cartoon impression of Felix the Cat running with a spherical bomb in his paws. This item is a colorful and attractive offering that would enhance any model aircraft collection. VFA-31 has staked its place in history by being the last Tomcat squadron, but this model allows collectors to commemorate this new phase in their history as they operate the larger F/A-18E.
1/72 P-47D Razorback, 61st FS, 56th FG "Little Chief" w/Airfield Base
Special Features:
- 1/72 Authentic Scale
- High Quality Diecast Metal
- Historically Accurate
- Detailed Cockpits
- Pre-assembled
The first unit to be equipped with the P-47 was the 56th Fighter Group in June 1942. A P-47D is the subject of a new Dragon Warbirds release, and it shows an aircraft from the 61st Fighter Squadron of this very unit. This FG moved to England in December 1942, and in the succeeding two years it was the most successful Eighth Air Force group in air-to-air combat with 665.5 kills. It was involved in the invasion of Normandy and also in the Battle of the Bulge.
The finely crafted miniature from Warbirds is a P-47D Razorback version, so-called for the ridge behind the pilot's canopy. Later P-47Ds did away with this ridge in favor of a one-piece bubble canopy that gave the pilot better visibility. The model bears accurately rendered markings, including the "HV" fuselage code of the 61st FS, and the aircraft's name of "Little Chief". This particular aircraft was flown by 1st Lt. Frank W. Klibbe, who achieved seven victories. Of special note is the fact that this model fighter is presented on a beautifully modeled scenic base. The diorama presentation is stunning, and it means collectors don't have to worry about creating their own display base to show off this fine model. The diorama captures the atmosphere perfectly and the combination is a real eye-catcher.
1/72 F/A-18F Super Hornet, VFA-102 "Diamondbacks" on CVN Deck
Special Features:
- 1/72 Authentic Scale
- High Quality Diecast Metal
- Removable Weapons
- Detailed Cockpits
- Opening Canopy
- Pre-assembled
Currently based at Naval Air Facility (NAF) Atsugi in Japan, VFA-102 is a United States Navy strike fighter squadron. The "Diamondbacks" squadron was originally established on 1 July 1955 in Jacksonville Florida and its first aircraft was the F2H Banshee. More recently, the squadron participated in Operation Enduring Freedom in the wake of the September 11 terror attacks in 2001. The squadron's F-14 Tomcats flew 3346 combat hours and dropped 645 bombs and guided 50,000+ precision-guided munitions. After returning from its deployment, the Diamondbacks began transitioning to the F/A-18F Super Hornet.
Today the insignia of a red rattlesnake coiled around a globe is proudly emblazoned on the unit's 13 Super Hornets, and none more so than on a new miniature from Dragon Warbirds. The markings on this F/A-18F Super Hornet are expertly rendered, with the famous Diamondbacks emblem and the "NF" tail code. This is more than just a model fighter aircraft, for it's a complete diorama straight from the box. The accurately formed Super Hornet with a full complement of missiles and bombs is mounted on a scenic base representing an aircraft carrier deck, perhaps the USS Kitty Hawk to which the squadron is attached in its latest deployment. It's an action scene, for the F/A-18F is ready for takeoff, the carrier's jet-blast deflector shield already raised into position. The diorama is populated with a realistic-looking ground crewman and typical deck paraphernalia such as a fire tender. All collectors need to do is open the packaging and they have an instant diorama ready for display. "Clear the decks for takeoff!"
1/72 F/A-18F Super Hornet, VFA-2 "Bounty Hunters" CAG w/Carrier Deck
Special Features:
- 1/72 Authentic Scale
- High Quality Diecast Metal
- Removable Weapons
- Detailed Cockpits
- Opening Canopy
- Pre-assembled
VFA-2, nicknamed the "Bounty Hunters", is a U.S. Navy strike fighter squadron based at Naval Air Station Lemoore in California. On July 1 2003, it was re-designated from VF-2 to reflect its transition from the F-14D Tomcat to the F/A-18F Super Hornet. The Bounty Hunters took delivery of their first Super Hornet on October 6 2003, and within 4½ months (the quickest time ever for a Super Hornet transition) the process was complete. The F/A-18F is the two-seat version of the Super Hornet, and its twin General Electric F414-GE-400 turbofan engines propel it to a maximum speed of Mach 1.6 or 1680km/h. VFA-2 forms part of Carrier Air Wing 2 (CVW-2), most recently embarked on the USS Abraham Lincoln.
Dragon Warbirds has released onto the market a 1/72 scale replica of an F/A-18F from VFA-2. It represents the aircraft belonging to the CAG (Commander, Air Group), who is the senior commander of the air wing. The F/A-18F has appeared in the Dragon Warbirds range before, so collectors will be familiar with the excellent level of detail and high-quality molding technology. However, this latest model is made special, not just by the fact that it portrays a fighter from VFA-2, but because of the scenic base representing an aircraft carrier deck, perhaps the USS Abraham Lincoln. It's an instant diorama straight from the box, complete with the carrier's jet-blast deflector shield already raised into position, a vehicle, and a lifelike deck crewman overseeing operations. This collection of well-painted and well-constructed items combines to create a spectacular centerpiece that would benefit any collection. Warbirds is proud to "launch" this F/A-18F Super Hornet on a carrier deck in more way than one!
1/72 P-47D Thunderbolt, 353rd FS, 354th FG w/Airfield Base
Special Features:
- 1/72 Authentic Scale
- High Quality Diecast Metal
- Historically Accurate
- Detailed Cockpits
- Pre-assembled
- Diorama Base Included
Formed on November 15 1942, the 354th Fighter Group consisted of the 353rd, 355th and 356th Fighter Squadrons. Their first mission was in Mustangs over Europe, though in December 1944, their beloved Mustangs were replaced with P-47D Thunderbolts in time for their involvement in the Battle of the Bulge. Dragon Warbirds is offering a fine new model of a P-47D Thunderbolt of the 353rd Fighter Squadron, this unit having the distinction of being the highest scoring fighter squadron in the whole of the European Theater of Operations in WWII, and indeed in U.S. military aviation history. 84 different pilots in the squadron shared 295 of the 354th FG's 701 aerial victories.
This Warbird model stands out as it comes complete with an amazingly detailed scenic base. The diorama shows a section of a typical airstrip with the aircraft proudly mounted on it. The P-47D is the later "bubble canopy" version, and all its details are accurately molded. The replica is finished in an accurate paint scheme and a colorful set of markings that replicate the actual aircraft of Major Glenn Eagleston. This ace claimed 18.5 aerial victories in WWII, and later flew F-86 Sabre jets in the Korean War where he also downed two MiG-15 jets. This newest release from Dragon is a fitting tribute to this American ace, and collectors will appreciate the quality of this beautiful combination of a diorama and aircraft.
1/72 Fw190A-4 "Black Double Chevron and Bars", JG.54 (Oberstleutnant Hannes Trautloft)
Special Features:
- 1/72 Authentic Scale
- High Quality Diecast Metal
- Historically Accurate
- Detailed Cockpits
- Pre-assembled
The Focke-Wulf Fw 190 first appeared in August 1941, and its air superiority quickly earned itself the nickname "Butcher Bird" from many opponents. The Fw 190 was an outstanding single-seat fighter, with more than 20,000 manufactured in WWII. The 190A-4 was introduced in June 1942, and it offered a methanol-water power-boost system, as well as updated radio equipment. A new 1/72 scale Fw 190A-4 from Dragon Warbirds has taken to the air, decked out in the markings of JG.54.
The original fighter was flown by Oberstleutnant Hannes Trautloft, whose first combat experience was in the Spanish Civil War where he scored five victories. In WWII he saw combat in Poland and France before being appointed Kommodore of the newly established JG.54 on 25 August 1940. He participated in the Battle of Britain, the Balkans campaign and Operation Barbarossa, before eventually finishing with 58 aerial victories in his remarkable career, 45 of which were on the Eastern Front. Trautloft's "Black Double Chevron and Bars" Fucke-Wulf aircraft is beautifully replicated in miniature by Dragon Warbirds, with one distinctive element being the green heart insignia on the fuselage. The yellow bands add a splash of color to the light gray color of this accurately detailed model. This is a famous aircraft flown by a famous Luftwaffe ace, and it makes a prized asset in any model aircraft collection.
1/72 Me109E-1 9./JG 2 w/Compass Platform
Special Features:
- 1/72 Authentic Scale
- High Quality Diecast Metal
- Historically Accurate
- Detailed Cockpits
- Pre-assembled
The Messerschmitt Me109 was Germany's premier fighter during WWII, with 30,573 craft produced between 1939 and 1945 (accounting for 57% of all fighter production). The modern design of the Me109 ensured it scored more aerial victories than any other Allied or Axis aircraft. The Me109 underwent a series of improvements throughout its lifetime, and one of these was the Me109E-1 "Emil", which featured two 7.92mm MG 17s above the engine and two MG 17s in the wings. It also featured the FuG 7 Funkgerät radio set and Reflexvisier gunsight, with 1183 examples of this version being built. Dragon Warbirds has launched a fine new model of an Me109E-1 decked out in the colors and markings of 9./JG 2. The unit Jagdgeschwader 2 "Richthofen" was formed on 1 May 1939 and was named after the famous WWI Red Baron. The unit participated in the Battle of Britain with its Me109E fighters flying from bases in Cherbourg and Normandy, doing battle against Britain's gallant Spitfires.
This 1/72 scale model is a real work of art. Constructed from die-cast metal, it is sturdy yet filled with intricate detail. The finish is beautifully worked to represent the actual aircraft "Yellow 11" that participated in the Battle of Britain, and markings include the special "R" (Richthofen) insignia of JG 2. The camouflage pattern is a colorful and complex one that makes this model stand out from less distinguished peers. However, what makes this item even more appealing is the detailed diorama base featuring a compass platform, this being a ramp designed to raise the tail of the aircraft to allow the fighter's machine guns to be test-fired and calibrated on the ground. The accurately designed fighter mounted on a scenic base is very realistic in appearance, and the combination makes an ideal centerpiece for any

1/72 F-14D Super Tomcat, US Navy VX-9 Vampires w/Crew
Special Features:

- High Quality Diecast Metal
- Historically Accurate
- Removable Weapons
- Detailed Cockpits
- Opening Canopy
- Moving Wing Flaps
- Pre-assembled
- Display In Flight or In Landing Mode
- Display Base & Crew Included
Until recently, VX-9 "Vampires", a U.S. Navy Air Test and Evaluation Squadron, operated 11 F-14 Tomcats. However, after the retirement of the
Tomcat throughout the Navy, the unit was still left with 28 aircraft at its base at Naval Air Weapons Station China Lake in California's Mojave
Desert. This squadron was established in 1951 and it develops and evaluates operational and tactical tactics. Previously the squadron operated
four F-14D Tomcats, and one of these is commemorated in a Warbirds replica from Dragon.
The F-14D was the final incarnation of the Tomcat, its engines replaced with GE F110-400 units similar to those of the F-14B. However, it also
had newer digital avionics and the later APG-71 radar. In all, just 37 new F-14D aircraft were produced and 18 F-14As were upgraded, making it
one of the least common Tomcat variants. This 1/72 scale miniature is nicknamed "Vandy One", and it beautifully encapsulates the sleek lines of
this famous fighter. Strict quality assurance from Dragon's production lines means this model is finely finished, complete with its unique markings
and the VX-9 tail code. But that's not all! This model is made even more desirable with the inclusion of a display base and a set of three
well-sculpted crewmen. This means the presentation is attractive and instant - simply remove the packaging and the diorama is ready for
immediate display! The Tomcat's heyday in active service may be over, but this collector's item gives it a welcome lease of life.

About The Fw190
The Focke-Wulf Fw 190 Würger ("shrike") was one of the Luftwaffe's best single-seat fighters of WWII. Such was its success that more than
20,000 were manufactured from 1941 through to the end of the war. There were a number of upgrades and variants introduced in its lifetime, one
of which was the 190A-3. This particular fighter began rolling off the factory floors in the spring of 1942, and was equipped with a 1700hp BMW
801D-2 engine. This engine required higher-octane fuel, and upon its introduction, the Fw 190A-3 ruled the skies over the Eastern Front.
Dragon Warbirds has unveiled a splendid model of an Fw 190A-3. It carries typical armaments plus a 300-liter drop tank under the fuselage. It
represents "Black 7", the aircraft flown by the ace Oberleutenant Karl Borris. He was appointed Staffelkapitan of 8./JG 26 on 10 November 1941
and he finished WWII with a tally of 43 aerial victories in the West by the end of the war. The highly detailed model is produced to Dragon's
exacting specifications and is finely painted and finished. It includes recessed panel lines and opening canopy, but the unique thing about this
model is its diorama base. The 1/72 scale model is mounted on a compass platform, an apparatus designed to raise the tail of an aircraft to allow
it to test its guns on the ground. The diorama base includes this special ramp and a realistic-looking landscape that is even littered with oil drums
that make this a truly inspirational collectors' item

- Removable Weapons
- Detailed Cockpits
- Opening Canopy
- Moving Wing Flaps
- Pre-assembled
A P-47D is the subject of a new Dragon Warbirds release. The finely crafted miniature from Warbirds is a P-47D Razorback version, so-called
for the sharp ridge on the upper fuselage behind the pilot's canopy. The model depicts a P-47D of the 47th Fighter Squadron, which was
activated on December 1, 1940 and was initially based in Hawaii. The model bears the colorful logo of "the Turnip Termites" squadron, and the
plane is finished in a predominantly silver color. The squadron was credited with shooting down eight Japanese aircraft during the infamous
Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941, while it also went on to serve in other theaters of combat. Interestingly, the 47th Tactical
Fighter Squadron is still in existence today flying the A-10 Warthog. This is a spectacular model, and it is enhanced by an authentic-looking
scenic base that comes with the scale aircraft model. The diorama shows a section of airfield that is beautifully textured and painted in a most
realistic fashion.
1/72 Me109G-2 III./JG 77 TROP. W/Compass Platform
Special Features:
- True to 1/72 scale
- High quality diecast metal
- Accurate markings and paint scheme
- Removable Weapons
- Detailed Cockpit
- Pre-assembled
Designed by Willy Messerscmitt, the Me109 was a hugely successful fighter built by Germany. With 30,573 units manufactured, it was produced
in higher quantities than any other fighter in history. Indeed, the Me 109 alone accounted for 47% of all German WWII aircraft production! A
number of variants were produced over the course of its lifetime, and the availability of the 1475hp Daimler-Benz DB 605 engine gave rise to the
G-series. In this "Gustav" series, the G2 was the first production variant that began appearing in 1942.
And now, Dragon's mouthwatering Warbirds series welcomes a newcomer to its ranks. It's an Me109G-2 Trop of III./JG 77, the "Trop" signifying
it was designed to operate in the extreme heat of North Africa or the Mediterranean. Jagdgeschwader 77 Herz As ("Ace of Hearts") served in
every front at some stage of WWII, but III./JG 77 arrived in North Africa in October 1942. The wing saw extensive combat against the Desert Air
Force, and many aces added to their impressive tallies, with a total of 333 aerial victories recorded. The aircraft model itself is superbly produced
and finished, painted in a desert camouflage scheme. To make this model unique, the Me109G-2 comes mounted on a compass platform, a
special piece of equipment designed to raise the tail of an aircraft to allow it to test its guns on the ground. The diorama base with this special
ramp and realistic looking desert landscape makes this a truly inspirational piece to have in any aircraft collection

1/144 B-17F-25 Flying Fortress, 41-24562 "Sky Wolf" 358th BS, 1944
The B-17 was a high-flying, long-range bomber that encapsulated the essence of a fortress, bristling as it did with numerous defensive machine guns. Indeed, this aircraft dropped more bombs in WWII than any other U.S. aircraft in countless raids against Germany and against Japan in the Pacific. The durability and survivability of the B-17 Flying Fortress was to take on legendary proportions, so it was unsurprisingly a favorite of its crews.
About This B-17F-25
This B-17F-25 bears the name "Sky Wolf", and carries markings of the 358th Bombardment Squadron Heavy (part of the 303rd Bomb Group), a USAF unit that flew over Germany in 1944 and 1945. The bomber's markings are accurately and expertly rendered and defined, while die cast metal lends strength and realistic weight to this model. Detail is full, allowing the landing gear to be displayed lowered or in flying mode. The numerous machine gun turrets are delicately rendered, ready to instantly fire upon any tango fighters! This fine model is an accurate representation of the world's first mass-produced four-engine bomber.
