55 Years Gone

The Hurricane Katrina Saga

"Your shop has brought me so much joy and I wanted to be a part of the recovery. If there is anything else I can do, please ask. " - - - Joe Dunn

Hub Hobby as you've never seen it before!: Part One. Interior pictures of the hobby shop as we saw it on Day 1 in an article called 55 Years Gone. Pictured here is the first entry team: Joe Weathers, Phil Novak, Sal Provensano, and Chuck Thiedel. Notice that the waterline is above everyone's head.

"You guys are as much a part of New Orleans as Lucky Dogs." - - - David Spicuzza

Our "Guestbook"

One thing that we vowed not to have is a Guestbook where visitors could leave comments. We still don't have a guestbook, but we've had some emails over the first two months after the flood that have helped us get through this. Your words mean more to us than you might think.

Special Thanks Department:

To the patrols of the Louisiana Air Guard 159th Tactical Fighter Group from Belle Chasse, who made us prove that we belonged in the hobby shop. They thought we were looters and entered the shop armed to the teeth. We thought they were joking with us; we quickly learned you don't joke with guys with M16 variants. Now they check on us to make sure we're doing OK.

To the police officers of the 6th District, particularly Ronnie Abboud and Phillip Davis who kept watch over the shop in the aftermath of Katrina and who frequently check in.

To our customers who've been volunteering their time to help us clean up the store: Howard Schultz, Norman Kraemer, Jack Hollander, Mike Reith, Joe Dunn, Michael San Miguel, David Clarke, Bill Wolfe, Roger Swanton, Ralph Eyles, Kurt Peterson, Don Smith, Frank Gerarve III, Bob Neider, and Mike Poche. Thanks guys.
