Hobby Hint
This is a 1/16 scale model of a DH-2 that I scratch built from plans.
The plane was flown by Major Lanoe Hawker, who's claim to fame was being the 13th plane shot down by von Richthofen.
The booms were made from aluminum tubing; the control surfaces actually move.
Six pound monofilament line was colored with a marks-a-lot and used for the rigging.
The frame is covered in silk span.
The machine gun swivels and there's a wicker chair in the cockpit.
The cylinders of the engine are made out of 5/16 inch set screws; the
prop was carved from laminated basswood.
