The concrete runway is in excess of 400 feet and is 50 feet wide; safety nets; and covered area for the pilots and spectators. The LSTA strives to educate and entertain both its members and the general public in the exciting world of steam railroading. We do this primarily through the restoration, operation, and maintenance of historic steam locomotives.

We have been conducting monthly DBA tournaments every 2^nd Sunday of the month. We play on 30x30 inch boards and have pre-set terrain. The larger board is to allow cavalry type armies to have a chance to manuver, but more balanced type armies seem to overall the best. Heat of Battle already has 19 different open wargames scheduled including a huge 400 building recreation of Stalingrad and Avalon Hill's original D-Day; and 2 Flames of War tournaments. All open wargames will be held in full view of the visiting public to introduce them to the hobby!
